    ‘Justified’ Filming in Altadena Monday

If you are wondering why a “Lexington Police Department” vehicle is blocking off traffic at the intersection of Lake and Mariposa, here’s your answer: The F/X TV show Justified is filming in Altadena on Monday.

The crime drama, which revolves around the life of a U.S. Marshall with a reputation for a quick trigger finger, is set in Kentucky, but many episodes have had scenes that were shot in Altadena, including one at Ace’s Smoke Shop in a past season.

Mariposa was closed to cars Monday morning between Lake and El Molino. The sidewalks are open to walkers, though film crews were asking people to pause during live shooting.

The photos show several of the cast regulars, including the lead actor Tim Olyphant, who plays Marshal Raylan Givens.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Taking advantage of its Los Angeles location, Activision has once again enlisted Hollywood talent to breathe life into virtual heroes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Hollywood film composer Brian Tyler (The Expendables, Fast Five) enhances the on-screen action with an epic score, while actors Timothy Olyphant (Justified, Hitman), William Fichtner (Drive Angry, The Dark Knight), Billy Murray (Captain John Price from the Modern Warfare series, Essex Boys) and Bruce Greenwood (Thirteen Days, Star Trek) spent days in the recording studio to bring the central characters in the campaign mode to life.

Analysts expect the newest Call of Duty game to break Harry Potter’s record for the biggest entertainment launch ever, as well as eclipse the game records Activision established last year with Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Neal McDonough, Mykelti Williamson join ‘Justified’

Fans of FX’s Justified have been wondering since May’s second season finale how producers would match Margo Martindale’s Emmy-winning performance as Mags Bennett. Well, now we know: Desperate Housewives‘ Neal McDonough and 24‘s Mykelti Williamson, who both starred on Justified EP Graham Yost’s brilliant-but-canceled NBC drama Boomtown, have been cast as the awesomely named big bads of season 3. McDonough will recur as Quarles, a Detroit mobster in a sharp suit who comes to Kentucky with visions of becoming a crimelord. Williamson will play Limehouse, a man who lives in a small black town in Harlan County and who will do whatever it takes, legal or otherwise, to protect his holler.

We’ll meet both characters early in season 3, which premieres in January. The show — which also earned Emmy nominations for stars Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins and guest actor Jeremy Davies, who’ll return — began production on the first of 13 new episodes Monday.
